Released on September 12, 1995, "One Hot Minute" is the sixth studio album by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers. The album was a departure from their previous album "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" and was characterized by psychedelic rock influences, primarily due to the influence of guitarist Dave Navarro, formerly of Jane's Addiction. The lyrics reflect mostly dark and melancholy themes, with vocalist Anthony Kiedis approaching his lyricism with a reflective outlook on drugs and their harsh effects. The album sold more than two million copies and was certified multi-platinum, and reached number four on the US Billboard 200. It also spawned three hit singles: "Warped", "My Friends", and "Aeroplane".

Forget everything a Red Hot Chili Peppers album is supposed to sound like and head into this one with an open mind. This is the RHCP at their most experimental, melancholic, and profound – and for me, nothing they've done since then tops this album. Just leaf through the booklet and its beautiful artwork – it'll get you in the mood – press play, and enjoy.
